Yes... This is all about me!
I started my art career at two years old, making mud pots in the backyard and letting them dry in the sun. After high school I studied three years of art in my native Newfoundland, and then moved to Nova Scotia to continue my studies at the
Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Boy, did I learn a ton of stuff!
I LOVE DRAWING!
I have been drawing pencil portraits for wonder clients since 1976. They have made it possible for me to attend college and start my own business. Although other interest may come and go, I will always love drawing portraits.
The majority of my paintings are painted in acrylic on board, but I also work in oil and watercolor. Painting these realistic images are like meditation to me. The process is quiet and contemplative . It helps to slow my sometimes crazy head. Hence, most of my painting is done when I need to slow down and take it easy. This also means it comes in fits and starts. Sadly I am not one of those artists who paints every day.
I have always been fascinated by process, how things are done. I like making stuff! I enjoy working with materials like paper , concrete ,metal and stone! These pieces are definitely not contemplative or quiet , and I'm not sure whether they tame the crazies or are the reason for them. :) They can involve splashing , stomping , hammering and jumping up and down . These pieces I make for myself , my family or my friends so you would rarely see them in the gallery . You can see them if you visit my gardens and sometimes I post them on my site.
